What’s on the outside of the Ferrari stretch limousine are non-structural monolithic carbon fibre panels, which are bonded to the existing Ferrari’s structure and to the new chassis sections. The panels of the Ferrari limousine where manufactured by the trademark process of the coach builder, Carbonyte. Carbonyte’s HotFusion process has been developed for the best composite body structure on the market, and is capable of withstanding the extreme temperatures the limousine may face in warmer climates.

However, here in the UK where extreme heat is not often an issue, it is also reassuring to know that the process ensures that the carbon fibre body is adhesively bonded to the chassis, and to the structural elements of the Ferrari.

After the Ferrari’s transformation from sleek coupe to stylishly speedy limousine, the 2.7 metre limousine increased in weight by around 150 kg. The weight increase is around that of two passengers, and the overall stiffness and safety of the original vehicle is maintained in the stretched version, by the carefully engineered placement of carbon fibre reinforcements.
